Our volunteers are the backbone of the Sudbury Food Pantry. There are volunteer options that can accommodate many different schedules. From early morning stocking shifts, to home delivery, to afternoon distribution. Want to volunteer regularly? Great! Want to help out occasionally as your schedule allows? We have those opportunities as well.
In addition to providing the good feeling you get when you help provide food assistance to our community, volunteering with the Pantry is a great opportunity to meet new people and have some fun! LS students, we are an approved organization with the MLK Office so we are a great place to get your community service hours.
Minimum age to volunteer is 14. Here’s a list of our current volunteer opportunities:
- Volunteer Coordinator – Ensure that volunteer spots are filled as needed as send reminder texts/emails to volunteers ahead of their shift. This role can be mostly filled from home. Knowledge of Google Docs and Google Drive is helpful.
- Inventory Manager – Takes inventory in the Pantry and our storage container twice per month ahead of our Greater Boston Food Bank order.
- Pre-pack groceries – Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30-11:30 am at the Pantry. We always need individuals who can lift up to 50 lbs but we welcome those who aren’t comfortable with that level of exertion.
- Distribution of groceries to clients – Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 am -3:00 pm at the Pantry. Some lifting required.
- Drivers – Pick up from grocery stores and move boxes from the Pantry to various locations – Monday and Friday mornings for about an hour. You must have your own car or truck.
- Stocking volunteers – Monday and Friday mornings from 7:30-9:00 am at the Pantry. We always need individuals who can lift up to 50 lbs but we welcome those who aren’t comfortable with that level of exertion.
